Problem :
Conventional room heaters often focus solely on heating performance while neglecting user comfort and emotional experience. User research revealed concerns such as dry skin, dry eyes, storage difficulties, and a lack of social warmth in modern heating solutions. The challenge was to rethink the heater as a product that promotes both physical comfort and togetherness.
Solution :
Mistique was conceived as a compact room heater inspired by the communal experience of gathering around a bonfire. The design incorporates a humidifying mechanism using a mist generation system to counteract dryness caused by heated air. The cylindrical form, warm aesthetic language, and technical integration of airflow and humidity management create a more holistic winter experience.
Challenge :
Balancing technical feasibility, manufacturing constraints, user comfort, and cost targets presented a significant challenge. The integration of a humidification system within the heater while maintaining safety, efficiency, and affordability required detailed component studies, competitor analysis, and technical exploration.
Summary :
Mistique reimagines the household heater as a wellness-oriented product that combines warmth, comfort, and emotional connection. By addressing both functional and experiential concerns, the concept offers a more human-centered approach to winter heating.
